Kelly Slater Environment Projects
Kelly Slater likes to give something back to the people and to the nature that allowed him to be what he is. Kelly is quite active with the Reef Check program and is involved with poverty reduction organization The Borgen Project.Kelly Slater and Reef Check
Reef Check Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to conservation of two ecosystems: tropical coral reefs and California rocky reefs. Coral reefs are the place where Kelly Slater and other surfers often find quality waves. Even though these reefs seem remote, they are influenced by the pollution of the oceans. As they are very sensitive to environment change they are the first indicator that nature is in danger. As a part of this program Kelly Slater was often found on the ship called Indies Trader that was a part of the Quicksilver Crossing. Indies Trader travelled the worlds seas in search of waves and monitoring the conditions of the coral reefs.
